aswmonflt.sys bsod endless reboot cycle

Hello there, my name is Kevin

so recently I’ve been having an issue with my laptop. whenever it boots it pops up with the BSOD, saying that there seems to be an error regarding “aswmonflt.sys”. Idk what that was at first, but I found out that it has something to do with Avast and the system files. I saw many topics online that are also like mine, but with another service.

my computer is a hp pavilion dv6-3225dx and is currently running windows 10. It’s a 64-bit system and it originally came with windows 7, but I upgraded it on the release date

I hope someone is able to help me with this, thanks in advance and I hope I get a reply soon

For windows 10 you will need to refresh the system

Well, i tried to do that a few days ago and it wouldn’t let me get into the boot settings. The furthest I’ve gotten so far is getting into system recovery. I had no restore points, so I tried using farbar recovery scan tool in the command prompt. The only problem I’m having right now is making a fixlist.

If you have an FRST log you can attach that

here it is

You have AVG, Bitdefender and Avast on this system… Which do you want to keep

I’m now using bitdefender. I removed Avast like a week ago and AVG was months ago.

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST as before and press fix.
On completion try a normal boot

It worked. I cannot thank you enough for the help.
I only have a few minor issues now.
1st. the keyboard and the touchpad won’t work (I tried reinstalling the drivers for them, but it didn’t work)
2nd. windows keeps asking me to give a activation key, but it says it’s already activated.

can you maybe help me with that too?

Run Avastclear to see if that returns the keyboard

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
[]Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[
]Once complete reboot your system

thanks

now this is the problem I’m having with windows activating right now. also at random moments a notification pops up and tells me that windows is going to expire

side question: my brother’s laptop’s wifi driver updated by itself last night and now it’s not working (aka, no wifi connection) and I can’t seem to make an Ethernet connection work either. got any advice?

the wifi adapter: Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter
laptop model: HP 15-039WM
system: 64 bit
windows 10, upgraded from 8.1 since august

also another few question: if there’s no way to stop windows from keep asking me for the activation code, is it advisable to make a clean install of windows 10?
and are there any benefits if you clean install?

A clean install will register the computer and ensure that there is no other junk on the system

For the wifi roll back the driver

ill try to do that asap and when I go into the driver proprties so i can roll it back, it own’t let me, cause the option is unavailable

Was the driver from windows update ? If so then go to the manufacturers website and download the latest one from there http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/7137590/model/7311084/drivers

well, here’s the problem. It shows me that the adapter is working fine in device manager, but when I go to adapter settings in network & sharing settings it won’t show the wifi adapter even after installing the driver software (and reboot)

Silly question… The wifi is not turned off is it ?

Also what does the windows 10 troubleshooter say

the wifi is turned off by default and no matter what I do it won’t turn on and the troubleshooter keeps giving me the options to troubleshoot the Ethernet controller instead of the adapter (cause it doesn’t recognize the adapter and for some reason device manager does)

Have you tried uninstalling the adapter drivers and then rebooting ? This will force windows to install generic drivers

Might it be time to replace it?? Or, get a USB WiFi dongle and see if that works ???
You’ll find an inexpensive one here:
