I seem to be having the same problem as a few other people with windows 7 not starting. Having tried all options - except for restoring to factory settings - and going round in circles, I have noticed it gets stuck as soon as it gets to aswRvrt.sys. Am attaching the frst file after following the steps to download rufus etc. The one difference I had when booting up from the usb was that it gave me a partition size of 0mb (should I be worried here?). Am in serious need of advice please - and thank you!
Boot Mode: RecoveryAttention: Could not load system hive. Attention: System hive is missing.Unfortunately this is the problem .. Your registry is corrupted or missing, this may be a hard drive problem or an error when you last shut the computer down
hi essexboy thanks for your reply. we did experience some problems during the daytime on tuesday with the loss of documents that were being modified that were then re-found 5 mins later, then we could no longer see the hard drive, not long after the computer completely froze and ever since we’ve been unable to re-start it. I guess it’s a job for microsoft support - unless you can point me in another direction. thanks.
I would first run a check disc from the command prompt
chkdsk C: /F
hi thanks for your reply, unfortunately we don’t have sight of c: only x:\windows\system32 etc. C is no longer available and when I try to access it I get a message something like “C: is reserved” - I believe x: is a virtual drive? Have contacted acer support in the hope they give us something to try before eventually having to re-install windows to factory defaults.
Sounds like either a hard drive failure, or some bad sectors in the wrong place stopping the boot
Hey Goingroundincircles,
I have (more or less) the same problems. I used following programs/tests/repairs/utils. Until now they didn’t work for me, but maybe they work for you.
