aswSP Crashing Laptop

Hello folks,

I’ve experienced some crashes lately that have no error message, blue screen, etc. It just shuts the laptop down, and after 10-15 seconds, I’m able to turn it on again. Upon further investigation, three out of three times, I find this message in the Event Viewer (Windows 7), created at the exact same second the crashes are logged:

File System Filter ‘aswSP’ (6.0, ‎2015‎-‎07‎-‎27T18:34:27.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.

Google tells me aswSP is related to Avast, and I’m wondering if there’s something wrong going on here, crashing my computer.

I’ve been using Avast! Free for years, and so far this year, Pro. Never had any issues before, but it started last Sunday.

Any ideas what this may be, and how to fix it?

Thank you!

what OS? What version of avast!? Free or what? Pls try to repair Avast:)

Hey, sorry for late reply.
Windows 7. Avast Internet Security (w/subscription), Program version: Avast 2015 (10.4.2233).
This issue only occurs once every 24 hours, so it’s a bit difficult to reproduce. I did an update of Avast today, so I’ll wait a bit and give an update later.
If there’s another crash, I’ll do a clean reinstall of avast!

I’ll let you know what happens

Thanks!
