Hi all,
Saw that others on this forum have had the same problem and that essexboy was able to help them solve it! I’ve gone ahead and run FRST64.exe (in System Recovery Mode) but don’t know nearly enough to make my own fixlist. Text file is attached; can anyone give me a hand with this (or even explain how to do it myself)?
Thanks!
Welcome to the forum.
A little patience please, essexboy has been notified.
Thank you! I’ll be around
Prior to this what happened ?
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location (USB) as FRST
Start FRST as before then press Fix
On completion try a normal boot
Not sure what the root cause was; my friend had set up a dual-boot with Linux which I just removed the other day. I repaired the boot loader (as far as I know) and was able to boot into Windows. Installed some system updates and it stopped booting after the restart.
Thanks for the fixlist; I will run this later tonight and let you know what happens!
Was Avast updated prior to this ? As a month or so ago windows released an update that messed with Avast. A fix was released by avast but if you had not updated for a while you would not have got it
