aswWebRepIE.dll crashes IE9

Since the 7.0.1456 update I have found that I cannot open a second instance of IE9 (shift-Click link) without it crashing (virus database is fully up-to-date).

It doesn’t matter whether I run IE9 32-bit or 64-bit. However, it only happens on one of the two user accounts I have on Win7-64bit-HomePrem

I’ve done some searching and found that others were having problems with opening in a new TAB, but this was supposedly fixed.

The Event Viewer entry is:

Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 9.0.8112.16421, time stamp: 0x4d76255d

Only limited use, I know, but it’s a starting point.

If by any chance you still have the crash dump file could you please upload to the avast ftp server, i also thought igor mentioned this problem had been solved in a vps update but noticed this yesterday myself again but i accidently deleted the file instead of zipping it :-[ ::slight_smile:

Is it still reproducible? This bug should have been fixed during VPS update ~ one week ago.

Just happened as i was sending my ini file via email

IE 9 32bit and 64bit, usually happens on all tabs that are open, clean install did this morning on this Desktop…if you need anything else, just let me know, and i will provide it

Not much of a helpful or technical update, but I would like to let you know that this is really starting to irritate me.

I feel a defection to “something else” coming in the next few days.

Be patient, an update is due before to long and if it really bothers you that much just uninstall webrep.

Same error here. This error is really disgusting. :frowning:

then 15 more Close Program popups (in 2 screen locations) including 4 tabs that were loaded w/ “about:blank” as content

this is happening at least 3-4 times per hour and is getting very old

hope they push patch soon or going to seriously consider going back to AVG

Why dont you just disable Webrep until the problem is fixed ( which shouldn’t be to far away i believe ), it’s not such a big deal.

If turning off a major selling-point piece of functionality in a product is the only way of getting the product to work what exactly is the point of installing the product??? Hate to rain on “admirer parade” but I expect things put out for public usage (even if free) to work without doing damage to my system or workflow environment (constant browser crashes tend to ruin trying to get things done) and I don’t think that that is an unreasonable position.

There are bugs in all softwares from time to time so as already mentioned if you dont want the browser crashes inconveniencing your browsing disable webrep for the time being, its really not a big security issue not to have webrep which is probably why avast haven’t rushed out a fix and the longer the fix takes to come the better as far as im concerned as it will benifit the program and the user in the long run with a much more stable product.

I disabled it and it is still crashing IE.

I dont see how it could crash IE if it is disabled correctly ??? but if so then uninstall webrep.
