August versions: 12.3.2279 + 2280

Same thing here.

It happens the same to me, Avast says that the program is outdated and asks me to install an older version.

How can we solve this problem?

Hi all,

We are currently working in fixing the problem with the update to .2279. The fix should be released soon (most probably via VPS).
Sorry about it :-\

Hallo in die Runde, ich habe das gleiche Problem (sorry mein Englisch ist zu schlecht)

I got the same thing. Update from 12.3.2280 to 12.3.2279 … does not make sense.
So is there a newer version out already or coming very soon ? ?

The 12.3.2280 to 12.3.2279 update problem was a problem on Avast servers, and is fixed now

Greetz, Red.

So I guess in the next few hours Avast will not show that we have the wrong program version ?
As of right now, it still shows it.

reboot your machine or change the auto-update settings.

reboot of machine fixed it here.

Reboot did the trick all right. Was not planning on that, as it would have been done on bootup in the morning.
But that incorrect update message is now gone.

okay i got avast pro and i’m seriously getting pissed of at this bullshit antivirus. I had been using the free version without problems for many years so i bought the pro version and this one is a pain in the ass. every few days when i start my computer the avast gui is reporting that the avast service is not running yet when i open up services.msc i can see avast service running, i can even restart / stop it etc. but alas avast gui keeps reporting it’s not running. When i click on the repair button or start service link the avast service hangs, that’s rather strange as i just could restart and stop it without a problem. To make matters worse i can’t kill the service which i understand is for security reasons but you should make sure that it’s fully working which cleary it is not. Don’t come telling me to use the repair function from the installer as i tried that and it does not solve it. Just a reboot (sometimes 2) fixes it and i can work until a few days later the same thing happens. I’m at a point where i’m getting seriously pissed of at this. To make matters worse everytime it does load up after these failures my settings are reset and i have to disable some of the things i don’t like / want over and over again.

There clearly is a problem with your interprocess communication between the gui program and your service… I have now tried setting the option to load the avast service after all other services have loaded to see if this helps but i’m not going to reboot like hell to see if it fixed it i’ll see in the upcomming days.

Does anyone else have this problem on an up to date windows 10 ? god just noticed you can’t copy anything from the about screen in avast. You want use to report versions but you block copying of the text. my avast version is the latest being pro 12.3.2280

Please start your own thread.

It’s showing the 2279 update available again when I have 2280.

Anyone else showing this?

How to fix please?

It should already have been fixed, possibly by a VPS update or the emergency update function, but you need to have A) not blocked that function B) rebooted your system for it to run the emergency update.

Obviously no problem here.
Maybe doing a repair might be advisable ???

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

Well a simple computer restart seemed to fix it. For now anyway.

This really makes no sense when it seemed to be fixed previously but then popped up again.

Is this going to happen constantly? Because I hope not.

Do you leave your computer on or, do you restart it on a regular basis ???

I shut it down when I’m done using it. I restart once a week.

I have been having difficulty downloading Avast Free Offline installer on page one of this post. I have tried 4 times. Each time it downloads the 220 mb installer, but at the very end, I get a message that “could not download the file because an unknown error occurred.”

Is there something wrong with the file at your end, or is it my download manager?

No problem downloading here but I don’t use a download manager.

Previously, when I was having the problem, I was using SeaMonkey to do the download.

I used Free Download Manager, and I was able to download avast OK.

Thanks for the help.
