I am hoping some one out there can help me… I need a way to uninstall avast free version 7 and 8, preferably silently, however if there are a few prompts that would be ok too. I am already sending out emails for users to disable the avast self defernse module. All of our avast clients are installed in the default location. I have searched google high and low and I have found a few things, but all of them have been unsuccessful. I found the command line switches for version 7 posted on this site: https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1240. However the problem is I do not have a version 7 setup file and they don’t seem to work with the version 8 setup file. When I enter the command prompt and browse to the setup file for version 8 I use the /uninstall switch and the installation wizard show up. (to resetup) When I use both the /uninstall /silent switch nothing happens. Also I found the aswclear tool, however I have 2 problems with it… One, it is only recommended that you use it when you are in safe mode and also I can not find switches on how to automate it… What is the reason for only running it in safe mode… If I run it in regular windows what ricks do I assume? Preferably I would like to know how to use the aswclear tool with switches so it knows to look for version 7 or 8 and not to reboot after it runs. I would also would like it not to prompt the users if they are sure they want to delete all the avast files.
Someone please help!!! Please tell me the best way to automate the removal of avast.
