Automatic (Program) update not working

Hello, i have avast! Free 2014.9.0.2013 and have enabled Automatic update.

Last version of program is AVAST 2014 R3 (build number 9.0.2016) and its released on March 19, 2014. So today is March 25, 2014 i still have installed old version 9.0.2013 even i have enabled automatic update. Why Automatic update for program isnt working?

(Please dont answer me with copy/paste method to do reinstall or something like that. I know it will in most case fix the problem but thats not the solution. How to explain “average users” that they have to do reinstallation every time when new version is released?)

Program updates are spread over a time frame (couple of weeks) to spread the server load with over 210 million+ users they can’t all update at the same time.

The Automatic update in your image relates to the virus definitions. We can’t see if the expanded Program section if that is changed as you say.

There is nothing stopping you from doing a manual program update from the UI, now that you know there is a new version.

On top of what DavidR said:

You can also install on top of your existing installation without uninstalling it.

True, that relates for virus definitions but program automatic update is also enabled.

That make sense, ill wait few more weeks to see will it update automatic.

Check this thread: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=146270.0

If you have “Silent” Mode turned on, it does prevent program updating.

In the other thread, it was acknowleged as a program bug and reported to development.

I see that thread, i have “Silent” mode turned off so thats not same problem as my

It updates automatic, on 29.3.2014, 10 days after released

This would be in line with the update cycle I mentioned.

Thanks for the feedback on the update.
