I guess if i think about it this is a bug. I’ve noticed it before as i have the sounds enabled but i don’t have popup enabled and i never hear it during updates. I just assumed it’s by design, though i have to agree that your way of thinking about this feature makes sense. This way you could have all 4 ways of doing it, either just popup without sound, just sound without popup, both or none of them by disabling each individually. Because now you can’t have the “just sound without popup” at all.
Well, I ask because some users (wrongly) assume that setting pop ups to zero seconds would disable them. AFAI can remember, the pop ups are actually disabled by “silent mode” (which would disable also the sounds, as the current “name” of the setting suggests).
Is there any different method to disable pop ups? Or maybe the “Status Bar” monitoring disables both the tray icon warnings and all the relevant pop ups but not the sounds?
Either way, there are some bugs in that area for sure.
Silent Mode actually means carry out the actions and don’t notify the user at all, meaning there won’t be any popups at all from any avast! function. Primarely meant for full screen apps so avast! doesn’t interrupt them. Silent mode is automatically activated when full screen app is running.
@RejZor, maybe I was not clear enough in my question, or maybe I didn’t understand your answer correctly. YOU mentioned YOU have it set to avoid pop ups. My question is, how YOU have the relevant settings to achieve that. According to YOUR setting, maybe we could find the correct combination to avoid tray notifications but allow sounds (or the other combinations you mentioned between visual and sound warnings/info).
Bottom line: It is not completely clear to me which specific settings the OP and you are talking about.
BTW, the “Silent Mode” settings are separated in two. One is for full-screen apps “only” (as you mentioned), and the other is “for everything” (no warnings, no matter what).
about silent mode is weird too
i mean i setup the shield to delete virii as soon as detected
avast in silent mode does’t respect this rule ,and send them in the chest/quarantine
the avast team would answer it’s a feature but… i don’t want to say it again
No, it’s not a feature, and it also doesn’t behave like that here (it’s correctly deleted).
So I’d say you’d have to supply more details, like for which shield you set the rule, for which malware type you set the action, what you did to trigger the detection, what malware was detected… etc.
@mantra, it is not so easy for me to understand you. I guess your native language is not English. It is not mine. I hope Igor can understand your report better than I (which in fact, the most important thing is that the developers can understand you ).
I have to recognize that I missed those screenshots in the first post. Now I see which specific setting the OP was talking about so to avoid the tray notifications (of course the manual update also avoids it, and the silent mode too; and that’s why I originally asked which specific setting/method we were talking about, not just the consequences). My apologies.
and the behavior of value 0 in the pop up is weird
As suggested in other topics, this setting, maybe, could change in the future Avast 7.x.
Something like:
= 0 == no pop up
0 == seconds
< 0 or blank or space or something else (whichever would be easier for the programmers) could mean “show it until the user closes it” (which is the current zero). Of course there are “cleaner” ways.
All those possibilities are, as now, “independent” of other settings, and the final result of tray notifications is a result of combining all the relevant settings.
As mentioned before, there are additional known bugs in the tray area, but this topic is already “too messed” in relation to the original title to mention them too.
I’m afraid everything works as expected here - when the action in the Filesystem Shield is set to Delete, the file is deleted on detection - not moved to chest.
So far, the sound has been associated with the popup… however, since there are two separate controls - one for the popup, another one for the sound, I’ll change it so that it’s possible to have the sound without a popup.
Igor i did check up ,and i was a fool , sorry for that
i had running the http shield ,set up to ask, and in game mode , sent the virus to the chest
now i uninstall this module , and it works 100% , avast deletes the eicar.com
