Hi guys,
In the 4.8 avast screensaver scan and in the beta there are disinfection settings. I set them as :
Repair, if failed > Quarantine, if failed > Delete permanently.
Is it good or should i change it ?

It’s good imho.
Thanks
Seems to be the logical progression to me.
To me delete isn’t a logical step, unless you have fully investigated it. You have to realise repair has a very, very, very slim chance of working and depends on the file being one that is supported by the VRDB and given that this is being dropped in version 5.0.
You then have to consider why a file can’t be sent to the chest (file in use, etc.), the file name and location before going nuclear. I would probably choose, no action and begin my investigation on the file name and location, etc. Or if the reason avast couldn’t send it to the chest because it was in use, etc. then I would schedule a boot-time scan and try to send it to the chest that way.
Or even add it to the chest manually and upload the file to virustotal, etc. for further scanning.
Once you delete you have no options left, so you have to be certain before select this option.
I liked what you said DavidR, you are right. I will choose no action as you said instead of delete.
Thank you my friends for your replies
I wish you all have a nice day
You’re welcome.
Thanks for the correction, David.
You’re welcome, deletion is fine after full investigation ;D
