I downloaded a Mod for Civ4 which came with an installer, that had to be extracted into a particular folder within the program files. After it had downloaded I ran a scan on the files as normal, and got the all clear and started the exe. Now, I have never seen this alert appear before, but after starting the .exe it prompted me to run it in autosandbox, so I figured I should as it said the software could potentially be harmful.
My question really now is, where did it go? Ive fished around for an answer but couldn’t seem to find a definite response. I have no idea where the files were extracted to, and a system search yields no results other than that of the originally downloaded exe. I see some threads saying that the files will be deleted upon restarting my PC. Obviously the feature is of no use to me in this case, as I can not play using the mod as the game fails to see that its installed, so am just trying to clarify how to remove the install, or if it even exists…
Just to mention, the help center in the UI covers absolutely nothing in regards to autosandbox. The only settings available in the UI are to add exclusions and the ability to turn the feature on or off.
When I download nzb files through my browser, my newsgroup program opens in the sandbox. All of the rar files download virtually, and the files unrar in the sandbox also. I have a path set in my newsgroup program, but the files never appear there. They are physically somewhere on my PC, but I can’t find them through the search. ??? ??? ???
You need to exclude your NZB download folder in sandbox settings (Expert Settings → Exclusions). What’s your NZB downloader? I think I can detect if you run nzb downloader/utorrent/… apps from the virtualized browser and ask you for auto-exclusion…
Thanks for the response. I’ve figured out how to download new files outside of the sandbox, but I still don’t know how to access the files and folders that were downloaded there previously. These files still exist and I can execute them through Newsbin, but I can’t view/edit them in Windows Explorer. It’s as if they’re hidden or invisible. They don’t appear in the location they were downloaded, or in the windows file search, but they’re physically there. It’s very strange.
Sometimes AutoSandbox pops up after the app is installed & opens. In this scenario, I think the apps are not deleted & one has to manually delete/uninstall the apps if found malicious, right?
Why sometimes AutoSandbox dont pops up at the start but after completed install & apps opening?
Does this means the analyzers didn’t find anything suspicious during install but on the opening?
But its good, easier, suitable & safe if AutoSandbox pops up at the very start i.e at the start of installation.
