AV-TEST.org 2011/Q2 Windows XP

avast free got 5/6 for protection, 4/6 for repair and 4.5/6 for usability. By far the best free av and eclipses many other paid internet security suites!

Congratulations to avast

And here’s the link…

Protection… protection… protection…
I’m seeing AVG getting better on protection in latest test, always…

Two words only B… S…

Really? I don’t think the testers are doing that…
Why are you feeling that way?

cmon guys. why hate something just because you do not use it? well i am glad Avast is doing fine here as long as i am using it.Avast does not need protection because it is protected by its effectiveness and millions of users happy and satisfied around the world.
AVG is really bloated but not non effective. My humble opinion
by the way AVAST rocks all the way.

Come on Tech you’ve been eating to much chocolate chip cookies no wonder you’re getting so hairy your whole need a shave, and you aspect to believe AVG getting better on protection :o

Guys, be aware that they tested the free version of avast against some major suites…!!

This

I’m slightly wary of the fact that bitdefender got 6/6 for protection. Seems a little fishy. They could have used a bigger sample to test the zero day protection (they only used 108 samples). Anyways i’m waiting for av comparative dynamic tests at the end of this year.

Avast has saved me on several occasions and did not bog down my system like BitDefender…

bitdefender gets 5.5/6 for usability

???

it means that i agree with what you are saying

Ah, ok. Thanks, I’m no native speaker.

Tests ,test, tests… so what. They can be used to show anything, one site tests this week and hands out scores, another site next week says something totally different for the same products.

I am interested in one thing only … what does an AV system do for MY machine, does it work, does it cause issues? What suits me won’t necessarily suit another user.

Interesting results for Comodo. I will still use their firewall with D+ — in combination with Avast AV of course.

Awesome Avast… So sad that comodo is always behind due to false positives…

 Well done to avast good to see support and testing on good old xp pro.

Re avast vs avg my mum had the avg on her old laptop amd 1.8 ghz twin core with only 1 gb ram and it was way way too slow on the internet.
But with Avast well fast and much better so in true real world speak its always speed vs protection. ;D
Well just my thoughts.
At work we had Norton and this seems faster But i will never ever go back to norton, long story in 2006 had a bad virus and the norton remote tech crashed my operating system.
