Just to get information about when will Avast 2013 be released? Any ETA? So far many antivirus program updated to 2013 i.e. Norton, AVG, and etc.
avast! doesn’t use years, but rather numbers to indicate their releases. A brand new version was just released hours ago.
Yeah I know about the brand new version. It got updated and everything is running fine. Just saying because when you open up Avast Free Edition it opens up the main page it says this “New 2012 version is avalaible- Upgrade now”. So I assume that even though avast uses numbers rather than years we are using the 2012 version.
Generally avast doesn’t have the Year in its name or version numbering, but on occasion they have mentioned the year when the new version is released, mainly because if you don’t somehow people feel it is outdated.
The other AV companies tend to use years to sell you the "new’ version. When companies start announcing 2013 versions in mid 2012 to my mind it is nothing more than a money grabbing exercise. In most cases there is little more than tweaks and aesthetics (bells & whistles). It is virtually impossible to have a brand new AV with new features every year and that is why I feel it is artificial.
The next major update version of avast (8.0) is likely to be early next year, just monitor these forums for the beta release and you will know it is getting closer.
