Avast 2014 - change server IP

We’ve recently changed one of our PCs to Avast 2014 (Endpoint Protection) as they have upgraded to Windows 8.1. Upgrade worked fine, however in the past we have gone to settings>troubleshooting to change the name of our server to an IP address to enable connection from offsite. This option isn’t there in the new version, and I can’t find it anywhere. Anyone else having this problem? In fact, I can’t even find any user documentation anywhere on the web!

I am not sure which version of avast you are referring to, the Endpoint Protection is V8 and the V2014 (V9) are consumer products only right now. It would make sense that you are referring to the consumer products as these are compatible with 8.1. The consumer products however don’t have remote management functionality and cannot be connected to the console.

The business products can have their connect to settings changed in the ini file directly if needed, the keys are

[AdnmSettings]
ServerAddress=

[Communication]
ServerAddress=

Have to disable self-defense first to make the change.

Thanks - actually what happened was Avast sent links to the incorrect package to download, it was actually Pro rather than EndPoint Protection. I downloaded EP V8 instead and this seems to be working fine with Windows 8.1. As far as the ini file goes, don’t get me started - 4 months of wrangling with Avast reps because it wouldn’t work, they really just kept trying to off the problem and pretend it wasn’t an inherent issue with Avast, before a dealer informed me that it’s not even necessary to do this and we found another way.

Thanks for the reply though JayZ.
