Avast! 2014 Free Web Shield blocks internet access

I just installed Avast! 2014 Free (2014.9.0.2008), and the Web Shield is blocking most internet access on my computer. I have disabled/enabled all the settings under Web Shield, and none of them appear to be causing the problem, only the shield itself. Is there anything that I can do, or should I just wait for the an update to fix this?

I am running Windows 7 SP1 32 bit, and I have had Avast! installed for awhile. This problem is new to Avast! 2014.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try disabling the “avast online security” plug-in in each of your browsers.
This should be fixed in the next refresh. :slight_smile:

I uninstalled the plugin awhile ago.

A lot of things are already solved in the RC 2009 version.
I suggest you use avastclear to remove the current installation and do a fresh install of that.

Uninstall 2014 and go back to version 8. Version 8 works without having to disable your AV.

I am running version 2014.9.0.2016, and experiencing this problem with this most recent install. Not sure why I should be going backwards, but how/where would I even find the earlier version?

Other than this thread being three months old, have you tried a repair?
Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot.
