Avast 2015 (10.0.2209 - corrected) released.

Just accepted the update.
Any clues on what has changed?

See: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=165749.0

It’s a BETA!!
Why doesn’t it say so, anywhere? :o
Just because I had a previous beta on this machine - which I had to remove due to huge issues - doesn’t mean I want to be put on the beta update stream just because one is available. I only installed the ‘Release’ (10.0.2208) 32 days ago after much soul-searching. This should cancel beta updates.

This should cancel beta updates.
Only if it was a clean install.

Yes, if your install has ever used Beta’s before, new Beta’s will be offered as an update as well.

Greetz, Red.

The machine listed above may have had a beta installed at some stage, but…
I have just been notified of the update on another the PC, one about which I extensively documented my troubles and solution here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=161805.msg1157477#msg1157477

On this machine I absotively and posilutely removed previous Avast installs before installing AIS RC ‘9.0.2010.255’ which was then upgraded to ‘10.0.2208’.

Issues:

  1. Nothing in the notification to indicate that the update is a beta or that I’m in a beta stream.
  2. I presume then that Release Candidates count as betas

IMO both these should be changed.

Sure.

If the only way to get out of the beta stream is to uninstall/reinstall, I think I’ll move to to “Avast for Business” which I presume will never update to betas without warning.

BTW, thanks for your answers Asyn. I’m not angry, just extremely frustrated with having to be constantly vigilant in order to keep Avast and my PCs happy together.

…and with the forum taking minutes to respond.

Well, that’s up to you.

I too believe it needs to inform the user if it is a beta channel update in the Program Update notification so the user can decline/ignore if they don’t wish to participate this time around.

I also feel that the avastUI should also show that it is a Beta build.

Something else is the build number reported 2015.10.0.2209 and on the avastUI and about avast, etc. Why then are the program executables version numbered 10.2.2209 ?

I presume this is because this is Release 2 of version avast 10, which would seem logical. Then why not have this as the version number and avoid any confusion ?

You’re welcome Vladimyr, don’t worry.

IMHO .2208 is “BETA”. ::slight_smile:
Avast developers clearly need to not be pushed for these Fall “marketing” windows and instead take much more time to test their new releases then roll out. This happens every year…by the time Avast 2015 (v10) becomes solid it’ll be time for the Avast Mktg guys to want the developers to release 2016/V11 and then blast everyone on the Forum who has not immediately upgraded…or worse…send forced updates.

I hope .2209 makes V10 solid…good amount of items on release notes but I notice not complete list of things promised to be fixed from many of Forum posts. Eg, what about the fact System Restore corrupted in Avast ?

Ugh…fat finger typo or old man bad eyes…sorry…I fixed in post.
Does OP have wrong in thread title ?

Yup
