I’m typing this from a tablet, so I apologize ahead of time for the low quality of this post…
I’m running a Windows 7 64 bit home premium, and had Avast Premier for about a year…(since fall 2013) everything was working fine until Avast decided to upgrade the program to the newest version. Called Avast 2015. There, everything goes south. My computer froze up in seconds after it finished installing.
So I did some research. I restored my computer via safe mode with command prompt, so that the Avast program was back to the 2014 version. However,Avast firewall would no longer start up. I rebooted the computer and completely uninstalled Avast 2014. Rebooted the computer and downloaded Avast 2015 via Avast.com. Everything was going well, until I rebooted. Then my computer began freeze within mere seconds after logging in.
Crtl+Alt+Del doesn’t work, can’t click anything, keyboard doesn’t seem to work…this is completely frustrating, especially since my college is online and they don’t support tablet and Android devices…right though, my computer is completely useless…
Thanks for the response, I did everything you said, and right now my computer isn’t frozen but I can click things but nothing opens. I press Ctrl+Alt+Del but nothing happens. I can right click my screen and select “Properties”, and nothing opens. Only Chrome which was open during installation is operative until it’s closed. After that I can’t open it again. As it is, I can’t even restart my computer normally…
Hmmm…I just redid the entire process again, the problem seems to happen when I try to restart the computer. Everything is normal until I press “restart”. After I click restart nothing works…
OK as and when you have the time try the following
Go to control panel programmes and features again
Select Avast > change
The select one of the following two elements :
NG
Avast remote assistance
Install it and then see if that affects the computers performance, the remaining elements in the box are nice to have but not essential
If we can narrow down the problem area it may help, myself I think it may be NG causing the problem as the system does do a lot of work on the first reboot after installing that
