AVAST 2016 (2016.11.1.2241)

Please post the attachment here; you need to have an account at malwaretips.com in order to see attachments there (i.e. your link doesn’t work without an account there). Thanks.

Stable version, not BETA channel. If I press update button in the settings, I get this screen in my AIS. I don’t think it should offer me an avast Free update or upgrade to AIS ;D

Plus this one strange thing for me > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178549.msg1264266#msg1264266 Have I missed something while was in BETA?

Heres the screenshot from yesnoo

Thank you.

Why is the avast! Uninstall Utility gone from the webpage? And if it’s still there, if I can’t find it in 2 minutes, the webpage design clearly needs improvements…

If I update from the gui will there be new tools to uninstall? I just want core coverage.

Google is your friend

Then what’s the point of having good homepage if you still need to google the damn thing? Just saying…

Yeah that is arguable. I found it via Support - search box. I searched for “uninstall”. Somewhat hidden.

update throught the gui it went fine. congrats to the new relese avast and keep up the good work.

Ok, can someone tell me how to delete custom created scans for on-demand? I’ve created one and just realized there is no way in deleting them. Whaaaat? There is literally no button to do that!

I dont like the new GUI… infact its just a new face i.e main GUI… other stuffs are the same old… and the main GUI is average… just a window with some texts & couple stuffs & full of white spaces.
And seems ads, GUI ads, chrome/toolbar install, etc… still there.

On first try it gives error & second try no error.
I tried system restarting & shutdown & the same i.e on first try it gives error & second try no error.
So continued the install with second try & install completed & seems fine.
But uninstalled… reason mentioned in the previous post here.

I kinda feel ya. It’s changed just for the sake of being changed. It’s not actually changed or improved in any usable way. The settings are EXACTLY the same as for the last 2 versions, only thing it changed was the theme so to speak. It’s a bit lazy. I’d frankly forgive just the change of year number from 2015 to 2016 keeping the GUI exactly the same than these forced “updates” that don’t really bring anything productive. But hey, that’s just me…

  • Will it use the DPC queue for non DPC related tasks?
  • Will it slow my machines performance to about half (or less)?
  • Will it allow me to play media without audio stutter and jitter?
  • Will it occasionally grind my PC to a halt, leaving me no option but to sit back and wait for 10 minutes before it’s done messing around?

I’m asking, because 2015 all of that, and worse.

Avast has to get in more security-related features, there was next to nothing in the last 2 years around.

EXCELENTE…

Just did the update for the Free Edition, and the main GUI has changed for the worse. The shortcut icons are gone, replaced with one option: Run Smart Scan
The customizable shortcuts was one of the best features of the previous version.

I’ve attached a screen shot. I can’t find a way to launch the Software Updater. I only see it under Settings, which is not the same thing. I’ve right-clicked all over the place to see if the main GUI is customizable, but it doesn’t seem to be.

So, I’m not sure what the point of this update is. Should I uninstall and do a fresh install?

Thanks.
