Avast 2016 and Microsoft OneDrive

Are there any known issues running the latest Avast 2016 (2016.11.1.2241) with Microsoft OneDrive (running on Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit PC)?

I am having all sorts of OneDrive download issues, where OneDrive just stops downloading. If I Disable permanently (all Avast shields), all is ok.

They should work fine together.
What shield is causing the problem ?

Not sure, I just disabled all 3 shields (File System, Mail, Web), permanently.

Currently, OneDrive is now working ok.

Looks like it was a glitch.
If it happens again, disable the shields one at a time.

Result, you have NO protection

disable one and one to find out what shield that give problems

Start by disabling only one shield - the most likely - the web shield, but I can’t see how that would be an issue, many other avast users using One Drive and yours is the first I have seen in the forums.

The issues I am seeing, especially explorer.exe crashing when selecting folders and marking them as available offline (onedrive feature) are occurring when the File System shield is enabled. Disabling the File System shield and onedrive is much happier.

Disabling the file shield is a poor second to being able to scan one drive, your on-access antivirus protection is gone, whilst running this scan.

Making them available off-line has to download them and I don’t know how that process goes (as I don’t use MS One Drive). But surely your One Drive data had to first be on your system and uploaded from your system, avast should at some point scanned that data.

Personally I would exclude that local One Drive location from the scan you are running.

Should you try to launch a program from that local one drive location, avast file system shield should scan it.

I am not running a scan, just selecting folders in Windows File Explorer.

These files were on my drive (12 months ago) and have been uploaded to the Microsoft servers. I wish to download them again (make available offline), a process I have managed successfully many times in the past year, until last week.

Apart from the latest batch of Windows Updates, the only significant change to my system is the update from Avast 2015 to Avast 2016, hence my original post.

I suspect the integration of OneDrive and Avast within the Windows 8.1 environment, is causing the problems.

Already performed a repair of avast ?
Already performed a clean installation of avast 2106 ?

Sometimes a update isn’t perfectly working.

Yes, I tried a clean install and I’m considering reverting to Avast 2015.

Sorry I couldn’t be of much practical help given I don’t use win8.x or One Drive, so I can’t test.
