New HP Pavilion, install Avast and go into automatic repair loop on restart, restore to before Avast install and all is good. Tried then to install AVG (not what I wanted, but had to try) same problem. Restore again and this time turned on Windows Defender and it works just fine? So the problem is not just with Avast but it does include it. Any one find a solution for this?
