After avast! was upgrade to 4.5.523, I have not been able to check email via Hotmail Popper and YahooPOPs unless I disable the Internet Mail on access protection. On the other hand, I can not find relevant configuration to change the setting. Hints are appreciated.
Are you talking about Thunderbird here (email client), i configerd mine up today using hotmail popper for both my yahoo mail and Hotmail, i can receive both fine.
What are you configerations your using in your mail client?

I have been trying to reproduce the problem by re-enabling the Internet Mail protection. Unfortuantely(or fourtunately) the problem disappeared and for the last 2 days, I have not encountered any error again. It’s a pity though I had not recorded the alarm dialogue previously but I will keep an eye on it.
BTW, I’m still using Mozilla 1.7.3 at home though I have convert to Firefox and Thunderbird in my work PC. And the version of avast! till yesterday is still .523.
Yes, an update to 546 should correct your problems with configuration which were prevalent with Thunderbird and a few other email clients on the SMTP side.
In addition, 546 corrected problems with Win9x systems constantly rebooting.
