I just have updated avast 4 to avast 4.5 and every two seconds I have this pop up from the toolbar that goes “dcom exploit tcp packet from 82.50.119.82.135” how can I get rid of that?
one of the good things about avast 4 was the total absence of pop ups and now they go every two seconds…that’s not upgrading!
please help me!
Thanks.

The dcom exploit is an attempt to access your computer from outside.
This usually indicates hijacker interference.
The Avast Network Shield is working here and thus you get the warning message.
Repeated attempts by the url address in the message should be reported to your ISP.
It is “Upgrading” in that you now have an excellent protection against hijackers. You can’t fix something if you don’t know it’s broke!
;D
I had the same problem. I solved it by disabling the warning message in network shield → customize (in the On-access Protection Control)
Are you using a firewall?
Thanks guys! I’m using the xp firewall, by the way.

Think again, XP firewall only gie you inbound protection so you need a software firewall to cover outbound traffic.
For example, use one of these:
1.) Agnitum Outpost (free version available)
2.) Sygate (free version available)
3.) ZoneAlarm (free version available)
And you will be much safer than just by using SP2 firewall…
Cheers !
Happy to say that I have been living without SP2 and until MS gets the bugs out…
I will use 3rd party software for AV, and Firewall.
I have learned never to leave my compute security up to Microsoft. ;D
