Hi,
I installed the Home edition yesterday, made an update, rebooted and started a system scan.
During that scan Avast reported a virus, that definitely isn’t a virus. It is part of the distributed.net client, that can be found here: www.distributed.net/download/clients.php
The file in question is the dnetc.com file.
Maybe someone can check this?
Overall, I’m quite impressed with the product.
Bye
JB
EDIT: System is Win XP Pro SP1 + all patches

Hi,
please send the file in question to virus (at) avast.com
- as a “potential” false positive
- in a password-encrypted ZIP- or RAR
include brief description/link & archive-password in the mailtext
and ask if alwil could reconsider:
→ other AVs also detect (non-destructive “malware”) in there:
Dr.Web: Trojan.Distnet
Kaspersky Anti-Virus: not-a-virus:NetCalc.DNet
Sybari: Proxy-DistNet
P.S.: What "virus"name did avast report exactly ?
and in which file in the archive ?
your avast is fully uptodate (VPS-version is…?) ?

I just checked and I don’t get any virus detected here.
What version of avast! VPS file do you have? What is your size of the dnetc.com file?

Hello
Maybe you can try to check the suspect file there :
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/
You will have a more complete picture of the file status with all these AV.

Hi,
will do when I get home (in a few hours or so).
@igor: the scan was made yesterday around 15:00 o’clock. Update was made right before the scan.

Hi,
I just downloaded the newest version of the client (mine was a bit outdated) and now the problems are gone.
Do you want the dnetc.com file anyway?
