Avast 4.5 thorough scan + DBX files

Well i set Avast 4.5 to scan drives and when it came over Outlook Express DBX files it said virus (that was correct) …

but ! the problem apeared when i tried to erase / move virus to chest etc.

Avast moved to chest / erase /etc whole .dbx file (yes hundreds MB of emails) …

why Avast 4.5 not using some .DBX unpacker ?!

it’s definitely possible

http://dbx.mparse.com/
http://www.mparse.com/

also ActiveX scanner from PandaSoftware is capable to read/extract and cure infected emails within .dbx when progressing file scan. Also result is not damaging .dbx structure at all , just the infected email…

will be nice addition … ???

Of course.

The DBX unpacker is still under development…

good to know wasn’t sure if it was mentioned before

can’t wait ;D

We’re expecting to have one more big update before x-mas.
It should also include the new VRDB and a transparent HTTP traffic scanner (may be useful especially for catching the malicious JPEGs)

o.O Avast is on best way to rule the world :o 8)

Great news!!!

This features will be in Home Edition too?

Sure, why not… there’s no difference in supported packers between Home and Pro version (appart from their “configurability”).

Excellent… ;D

Hi Vlk,

are you still working on these new features?

Thanks

Wow,can’t wait to see new VRDB 2.0 and HTTP Scanner. Keep us posted!

Sure, it’s going to take a couple of more weeks…

Great! ;D

Thanks
