Avast! 4.7 HE - Internet Connection Problems

Using the following:

  • XP
  • Windows FW
  • Avast! 4.7HE
  • IE, Netscape, FireFox

Web Shield is keeping me from accessing the internet in all (3) browsers when started whether FW is enabled/disabled?

When stopped, everything is fine. What’s the deal…what setting am I missing?

Thanks…Mi-calll

Adding an exception to C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe into Windows Firewall will help or not?

Hello,

I’m a french user of Avast Home 4.7 and I don’t understand why I cannot access to my bank internet site(and some other sites with securised pages) . I think a specific format must be authorised but i don’t know how to do it.

Can somebody help?

Windows XP. Firewall active
Incredimail.

Thanks
Céline

Cécé, avast could scan the web traffic but not the ‘baking’ (HTTPS protocol).
Do you use any other security program? Only Windows firewall?

I uninstalled Norton, Kapersky, SPybot, Adaware.
I still have Panicware(popup stopper)

and i just saw there is still a Symantec File within my program files

As I stated in the first reply…does not matter whether FW is on or off…exception does not work?

I add Avast to the exeptions of Windows FW. No incidence.

Just a precision: all pages that should open thru a link do not appear. And I don’t get any notifictation that a pop up has been blocked. I don’t know if there is a link?

KAV removal tool: http://www.ice-kav.com/utilities.php and http://www.ice-kav.com/downloads/util/KAV_Registry_Clean.zip
NAV uninstall see: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=12169.0 A removal tool for such a number of NAV is SymNRT.

i cannot download uninstalling programms since pages do not open.

Is it not a problem of Avast Wab configuration?
Its is possible to accept some URL? What does it mean?

Not a single page? If so, disable WebShield and go there.

Well, avast CAN’T block the access to ANY webpage. It’s an antivirus and not a firewall. It will block the access to infected pages. Just that.
You can add pages to the exception URL page of settings but banking pages and any other secure page will make any difference as avast does not even scan them.

Sorry, but i don’t understand your instruction “disable WebShield and go there.”

Problematic pages seem to be the graphic intensive ones.
On this link for example there should be a digital keyboard to tip one’s code. Can you see it? I don’t!

Right click the ‘a’ blue icon. Go to ‘Stop provider’ and choose ‘WebShield’.
Answer ‘No’ to not persist the changes after you boot. Answer ‘Yes’ if you want to disable WebShield for ever.
Go there, means, open your browse and go to that problematic pages.

done.
I still cannot see virtual keyboard.

Well… this seems to be a pop-up blocker or script problem…
Check your browser settings and restore the default values.
avast can’t be ‘blocking’ a virtual keyboard to appear.
You can try disabling all avast providers or even uninstalling it… ::slight_smile:
