I downloaded and installed the Avast 4.8 Home edition this evening under Widows XP and on top of AVG. After the install, when I next checked my Yahoo Mail! account I could not log in. Switching to the traditional Mail allowed me to get to my mailbox and see the headings. But when I attempted to open mail, all that showed was the heading. The body would not display.
I used to have a computer running both AVG and Avast a few years ago and the two seemed to get along well, with one finding virii that the other might miss, so I thought I’d try again.
I think anti-virus software makers need to let the users aware that using multiple resident anti-virus applications will eventually end up with conflicts since there are so many posts recently by those don’t seem to know this.
Please choose either Avast! or AVG. Uninstall either of it. Restart the computer. Download the removal tool appropriate to the uninstalled anti-virus from either AVG Removal or Avast! Uninstall utility. Start Windows in Safe Mode. Run the utility. Restart the computer.
For Avast! Uninstall Utility, you can find the detailed instruction is on that page. You may need to do it for both applications in order to make the computer work without the issue.
