I have just been going through the program settings, and noticed that in PROGRAM SETTINGS > UPDATE CONNECTIONS
As i dont bother with a dial up modem, should i have the " my computer is permanently connected to the internet"
option checked.
I know this may sound a bit silly , but does this mean if your computer is left on all the time, or can i select this option if i turn my computer on and off.
I use a “ADSL” so i was just checking to see if i should have this option checked…

Hello again
On my XP machine, which only has 512 ram, i am some what disabled for a few minutes , with the system loading up as well as avast processes, would this setting set to disabled help me a little
Delay loading of avast! services after other system services. Normally, avast! antivirus service is started quite early in the boot process. Rarely, this may cause problems with starting other system services - which could manifest e.g. as temporary freezing (for a few seconds or minutes) of the system shortly after its start. This option makes it possible to delay starting of avast! antivirus service - to make it start after the usual system services are fully loaded.
Sorry tech, yes making an affirmation, but was just checking as it states, before making the change.
I can always revert back to the previous setting, if this does not help much.
As a general home user, who is learning more and more all the time about computer settings, would it benifit me if i bought the professional edition.
I have had many anti viruses programs, the current one being the “bt” or “bt yahoo” free AV.
Well its not actually free, i am paying £3 a month but i don’t use it.
(Sound silly i know)
Anyway i have found Avast to the most interesting By far.
