Hi , i have only just downloaded Avast and i am not quite used to things yet, what i would like to know is, when i t has finished a scan and i do not have any virus`s i have got a list of files and i am not sure what i am supposed to do with them, everytime i do a scan the list grows larger, it says they are bmp files and could not be scanned, a couple of them says they are Adware something to do with skins, could anyone help me with this question. I have had a virus and i had no trouble with it because it told me what to do but with these files i am not sure what i should be doing with them.

Hi bluesman, thank you for replying so quickly, where do i find the “old back up/recovery/quarantine entries”
Sorry to be such a pain but i will be ok once i can get my head around it. Thanks June
Sorry bluesman forgot to ask you, when i click onto the little ball at the bottom of my computer ( the one with the a on ) there is a little box that says " outlook/exchange the provider is waiting for a subsystem to start" could you tell me what this means please. thanks again June
Hi bluesman sorry again but i cannot hide my email address on my profile, i have ticked the box to hide it but it still shows, what am i doing wrong. June
When your email address is hidden, you can still see it, but others can’t. ![]()
(edit: I just checked, and I can’t see your email addres, only the word “hidden.”)
The Outlook/Exchange provider shouldn’t be running unless a) you started it or b) you have MS Outlook (not express), which is correct ?
What it is waiting for is MS Outlook and if you haven’t got MS Outlook, then it would be waiting a very long time ;D In that case Terminate the Outlook/Exchange provider and answer Yes to the question, persist the changes, etc.
We can’t see your email only you can, I can see my email but you can’t, see image.
Adaware is not a very useful program nowadays due to lack of detection.
Maybe you should try SuperAntispyware and MBAM.
Thanks everyone for all your help today, i feel much happier now. June
You’re welcome. Feel free to come back any time you need help or just to change experiences 8)
No problem, glad I could help.
Welcome to the forums.
davidr you said you can delete old backup/recovery/quarantine entries, could you tell me where i can found this option or is it only on the paid version, i have searched around and cannot find it, mine is the free version. Thanks June
I haven’t got a clue where to start as you haven’t said what program they are associated with ?
For most it is a case of opening the program responsible for those and looking for the backup/recovery/quarantine location and deleting those older than say a month.
