Avast 5 .0.418 - Won't start webshield service

I uninstalled Avast!, downloaded and installed the 2008 C++ redistribution pack, then re-installed Avast.

Finally, after a clean install, the webshields are still showing as “module not running”. In computer management, I see the Avast Web Scanner service as “Started”, however I cannot see anything blocking the start of the service within the Avast screen itself.

Any ideas as to what to do to get this working ?

Hmmm… my 2008 C++ redistribution pack (got by Windows Update) is running ok with WebShield on also… ::slight_smile:

I have that same problem and avast would not help their customers

I guess you don’t count the forums as helping their customers then.

The OP got a reply to his question in a few hours, but never came back.

If you have this problem then you should create your own new topic rather than add to a topic almost a year old, not to mention it will be for a completely different program version.
