Avast 5.0 Crash On Full Scan

I installed 5.0 last weekend and had a problem when I tried a full scan it got to about 13 gig then Avast crashed and I had restart shields. I’ve got Windows 7 64 bit and Webroot Spy Sweeper is installed and MBAM free. The crash looks like it’s on programsx86. Do I need to enable a logfile? If not where do I find it. I switched back to 4.8 and will try and resolve this weekend. I tried a few installs using different downloads but they all produced the same result. I did use the Avast removal tool in safe mode. Also tried Revo uninstaller with same results. Avast 4.8 is the only other AV I’ve had installed.

Hi

Are you using the very latest version of Avast 5 : 5.0.418

I got my Avast 5 Free from Filehippo - Here : http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
Green Button ( Top Right ) For The Latest Version Of Avast 8)

Know it’s a Pain! :frowning:
But if I was you I’d try another clean install.

1) Uninstall
2) Make sure you use the Avast 5 Version of the Avast Uninstall Utility from Safe Mode
Both… Avast 5 - & - Avast 4.8 … Uninstall Utility Versions - Here : http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility
3) Reinstall Avast 5

Tip!
After Uninstalling Avast…
Make sure you look in - Program Files - & - Delete the Alwil Folder if it’s still there.
Note: You will need to show… Hidden Files And Folders
Note: Only Delete The ( Avast ) Alwil Folder … Nothing Else!

Tip!
If you are using any other Firewall other than the Windows Firewall…
Make sure after you uninstall Avast … You delete any old entry’s for Avast from your Firewall.
Then… Reinstall Avast 5

Tip!
1) Install… Avast 5
2) Wait for computer to settle
3) Restart Computer
4) Wait for computer to settle
5) Open… Avast 5
6) Register… Avast 5
That’s How I Did It!

Thanks
I’ve tried all of that but still no luck. I’m trying to look through logs but don’t really know what to look for. Something I did noticed during scan is it shows the number of files scanned and it increases but the number of folders remain on 1. It always faults about the same place about 13 gig and in programsx86. About the only thing I haven’t tried is installing over 4.8 with out removing it. I’ve tried using Revo uninstaller and running Ccleaner.
