Avast 5.0 is not ready

Some people are having no problems at all, but there are a large number of people that are having major issues with avast 5.0. In my opinion the bugs should of been worked out before released to the public. I love Avast and wish I could use 5.0 but after several attempts to install 5.0 on my Vista machine I finally gave up and went back to 4.8. Don’t get me wrong, there will always be bugs with new software but I don’t know about this many.

Hi,

would be more interesting if you told us more precisely about the issues that you’ve had

ok, I use the uninstall tool in safe mode to uninstall 4.8, then reboot in normal mode and install 5.0. Everything is just peachy until I reboot again and I get a blue screen or will not boot up at all. no other av is on my pc. Support will not reply to me so if anyone out there knows of something Im missing or should do different please let me know. thanks

OK, would be interesting if you could upload a dump file I suppose >>> ftp: //ftp.avast.com/incoming/

ps: you’ve been trying version 5.0.396 right?

I have not experienced the BSD problem myself, but as you say, many others have. Just a thought - are you installing the latest version?? (5.0.396) ?? It has been mentioned on this forum that it appears to solve the majority of BSD issues (in contrast to the intitial release version 5.0.377).

Don’t give up yet - I have it running on my system (Windows XP SP3) with no problems.

Im going to try it again. Ill post my results. thanks

well I tried again with the latest and BSD again. oh well maybe in a few weeks Ill try again.

I’m pretty sure that the Devs would be interested in seeing the DMP/minidump files from these BSODs…

Ive sent it to them already. hopefully Ill here something soon.
