Well over the past few weeks their have been a couple new rogue’s avast seems to not detect at all. Even when the sample is almost 2 weeks old. It seems to be ignored? Both Anti virus7 and personal Security seem to get right past avast every time… What’s going on with this why are they not being detected even when sample’s are sent? :
What i would like to know why avast missed all 47 sample’s of personal security and Anti virus7 it seems to be ignoring them. >:(
Don’t you have to actually have to agree to download something to get a rogue?
Well some will say your computer, is infected on a Fake web page. Witch will trick the user into actually, downloading the fake application. No you do not have to agree to install it some of them do have agreements, witch are fake but not all…
Fake antivirus overwhelming scanners

quote:
" The reason for the growth in numbers is what is known in technical terminology as ‘polymorphism’, an old defence technique which involves changing the binary checksum of every copy (or download) of a piece of malware. This makes it much more difficult for antivirus programs to detect the programs. "
“The primary reason for the creation of so many variants is to avoid signature-based detection by legitimate antivirus programs,” says PandaLabs’ director and APWG member, Luis Corrons in the report. “The use of behavioural analysis is of limited use in this type of malware because the programs themselves do not act maliciously on computers, other than displaying false information.”
I understand no AV detects everything 100% but when sample’s are sent come on now at least put em in your data base.
yeah it’s been acknowledged by Avast that the software wasn’t that good yet at detecting rogues…they said this would change…on the other hand, I hardly believe in full drive-by downloads with rogues on legit sites, there’s always a screen where the forgery must be totally obvious, so if a user clicks, that’s his click…those screens about scanning your system for errors have been haunting the web for ages and ages now
I ran into one. Scanned me w/o my permission, told me I was infected. Locked up my browser, wouldn’t let me close anything, like a loop. I had Avast! sandbox on so I closed it manually from the GUI, but had that not been possible I would have gone as far as the power button to escape. Point is, I guess, I’d rather have my AV protect me against the thing I can’t see/ stop myself 1st, other things second. Also I have NoScript now, which is supposed to help with this
Well it doesn’t actually do a scan, it just says it did and you are infected.
detections of rogues have been updated during last week… do you still have some undetected samples?
