Avast 5 can't detect some viruses

Hi everyone, i am using Avast from last 1 year had no problems till know. I have recommended Avast 5 to my brother, he installed it. But yesterday i have scanned his computer with Avast 5.0.507 which is up to date, but it says the system is clean. But the computer and internet are very slow. I thought there might be infections. So i scanned with Malwarebytes free edition. But Malwarebytes latest version(1.45) found 20 infections. Now i want to change Avast 5 with Avira 10 becuase i have lost confidence in Avast 5. Please give me your suggestions.
I have attached Malwarebytes Log. Vista Ultimate, 2 GB RAM, 1.75 GHZ Pentium processor, thank you.

avast missdetection is becoming a worry thing…

I suggest you wait for other users to help you cleaning this using specialized tools. Also to verify is there isn’t MBAM false positive.

Yeah, gotta say I’m not quite happy reading these threads, more and more frequently :o >>> @ the OP: if the infected system you’re talking about hasn’t been cleaned yet, would you mind testing with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/, do a quick scan and post the result here?

No, need of MSE, Malwarebytes did the job it has cleaned my system removing all infections. Really surprised at the Avast 5 detection rate. ???

I didn’t say that it was needed, especially after your system got cleaned, I was just curious about the results with MSE in case you hadn’t taken any action yet with MBAM…

hi insane pogo,

In your MBAM Log above, it shows no action taken. Have you since run MBAM again to take the correct actions?

Hi CharleyO,

For removing the unwanted Browser Helper Object he may use BHORemover: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/downloads/BHORemover.zip

polonus

I wonder if it’s a case of avast 5.0 missing them or avast 4.8 also?
