OK, I have installed the new Avast 5 IS about 5 times on two computer with windows XP. Formerly they had AVAST 4.8. I removed AVAST 4.8 and installed the NEW version 5 IS and I cannot get the firewall module to install. I have uninstalled ran the Avast uninstall tool in safe mode, went through the registry removed as many of the components of AVAST that I could find. Some i could not delete. On both computers the firewall module is not listed in the computer services. I have been working on this for a couple of hours now and it is really getting old. The funny thing is that I was able to get it installed on windows 7 without any problems. I even tried to repair the program, change the program by removing the check mark by firewall, uninistall it and then reinstall it. However to no avail. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.
Because as i know avast! 5.0 only running well with Win Xp SP3. This happened with my machine too, beside Firewall module and all of Real Time Shields not working properly too.
I am running winxp with sp3. All of my computers are up to date with windows update. Everything else seems to be working, just problems with the Firewall module.
I’ll give it a try and post my results, I am also now getting a ndis driver installation error on my windows 7 laptop. I looked for those files however they are not there.
