I have a client who has avast 6.0.1203 running on XP SP2. She cannot connect to internet in Firefox 3.5, or 6 or IE7. I also have 6.0.1203 running on XP SP2 with no problems. If I disable webshieds, it connects. With webshields, its blocked but I can ping fine. I uninstalled, ran aswclear.exe and reinstalled 6.0.1203 . Still did not work. I downloaded and installed 6.0.1273 but have the same results. Any Ideas?
Sounds more like avast (avastSvc.exe, web shield) is getting blocked.
What is your/their firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.
Can I ask why you’re running service pack 2
SP 2 works just fine with all our computers.
Windows firewall is turned off.
Webshield is blocking the browsers. If I disable it, the browsers work.
Try installing the beta v. 1273. May be it’ll make new rules ;D
Already tried 1273. No change.
The windows XP firewall provides ZERO outbound protection so shouldn’t be the issue and updating the avast version won’t help getting over any blockage that isn’t avast related.
When did this problem occur, after installation ?
Were they previously able to connect with avast installed ?
