Avast 7 Final Released

gott sei dank ;D

Really? That’s icing on the cake…

Yes but you can get rid of It only in safe mode because that “bad update” disables totally avast! in control panel

So…?? Either do it, or just wait for the announced tool, which will fix it as well.

@Tetsuo

Thank you for the information.

I let it finish it’s scan while watching the File System Shield. Once it added them to the transient cache, it seemed to run at normal speed now.

Seems that I m a lucky man… 8). Updated through GUI from 6.0.1367 and everything is going well till now…including the streaming update… . See attachment.

Mine doesn’t show the program update yet.

Edited out dumb remark. :-[

All my virus definitions both normal and streaming are up to date. Received a streaming update about 6 minutes ago. Will I be required to install this new fix?

You’re welcome. Glad to hear that now it’s working fine for you : )

After years of using Avast, I’ve had big problems with Avast 7 killing connectivity. After a lot of trying, I’ve given up and installed another product for a 30 day trial till this gets sorted out. Question: which files should I search for to completely remove Avast. (I do plan to reinstall it in the near future). Thanks,

I REALLY like avast 6 Pro: www.advantage77.com/Files/setup_av_pro_601367.exe

The “WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS” procedure to “scrape” all of avast! remnants from a computer system (AKA Pete Scrape) using the avast! example:

  1. Add remove programs, remove avast!, restart.

  2. Go to safe mode, use avast! removal tool, select avast! version #, restart, and repeat for every avast version ever loaded on that system

  3. In Local disk C:, ProgramFiles, delete “avast” and “Alwil” directories if there.

  4. In C:\Windows\temp, remove all.

  5. Start, run, type “%temp%” and remove all.

  6. Do a Windows search on all hard disks for instances of “avast” and “Alwil” and delete all.

  7. Start, run, type “regedit” (Windows key + R). Under Hkey, current user, software, and remove “avast” and “Alwil”, then under Hkey, local machine, software, and remove “avast” and “Alwil”

  8. Use CCleaner to remove the rest of any avast! orphaned registry remnants, and restart.

  9. Install avast! and reboot!

  10. Usually, good luck at this point. And you can substitute other manufacturers products into this script. Remember, registry hacking is always risky, so always have a backup before you proceed. It’s kinda like the acknowledgement checkbox in LSPfix, “I know what I’m doing, or, I like to reinstall my operating system”

Heres the whole article: http://advantage77.com/blog/2012/02/16/when-all-else-fails-discovery-and-removal-of-antivirus-leftovers/

It will be soon. Try an installation from scratch.

LOL I got news for ya this is the testing.

+1

Cloud connection seems to be very random. I’m online for an hour and it still hasn’t connected. Not impressed…

Maybe the servers are down to prevent any further problems ???
Just guessing and hoping that’s the case.

Streaming updates are working here though I have seen the conection break at different times on 2 machines.

The My avast account is puzzling though and I am beginning to wonder if it is worth the bandwidth.

Logged in just now to see that 2 machines are Green and secured and my main machine has a nice red “Attention” displayed. This information is utterly useless as nothing else is conveyed and the display clearly says that all shields etc. are running. Check on the avast GUI and everything is normal , all systems are running and defs updated ie; no issues at all .

My sons machine which has not been online for over 18 hours is declared green and fully protected, yet the server has obviously no way of knowing this as there has been no contact. ???

So, having disconnected my machine from the account for 5 minutes and then reconnected, the “My avast” account page now shows a new unidentified machine “New Device 10” with all the OS/License and shield info for my PC. The details registered against this PC previously are still sat there against the machine/device name but showing “Attention” … think I’ll just stop using the account system, just cannot see the point in it. I know my settings, I know when the license expires and the graphs are simply not needed.

okay, nothing new yet …

Thanks Tech.

I just completed a clean install and it appears things are running better thus far. I chose load Avast services after system services and this helped at the welcome screen. It’s still a little slow on the welcome screen, but better for sure. I also ran the Avast sandbox test file and that worked great. I look forward to the next update. Thanks again for all your efforts.

You’re welcome scjr.
