avast! 7 Free: The dialog 'Register/Upgrade Now' displayed when windows Starts

Hi,

I have been using avast for the last 7 years and decided to upgrade to the free Avast 7 version few weeks ago, I registered my copy but every time windows starts I receive a message from avast 7 saying ( You are at Risk, your subscription has expired, register or upgrade) then I register and click stay with basic protection, but on the next windows start keeps displaying the same message and I register again, it is driving my mad.

I have uninstalled avast few times even using the avast removal tool and made clean install but I still have the same problem, and when I uninstall Avast it
disables the windows side bar till i reinstall it again.

I’m using Windows Vista 32Bit, Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop.

Please help.

  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

More to the point is your system year/date/time correct ?

It is Windows Vista 32Bit, SP1, I have windows updates off because every time it updates I get other problems, I never had any other antivirus apart from Mcafee trial which came with the laptop 7 years ago and was removed straightaway.

Before we continue, please update to SP2…!!!
