So i have been a user of Avast for about 3 years now and i really like it, but after the latest upgrade to Avast 7 i keep on getting a pop up message after window starts up saying Complete your upgrade to avast 7 it also contains all of the new features of the new version of avast. The problem is that i press finish on the window and the next time i boot up windows it pops up again. anyone else having this issue? it is happening on both my desktop pc’s one with window 7 starter and the other XP pro with sp3. Avast is upgraded to 7 but this message is constantly popping up and is getting a bit annoying.
The method above did not work. I found out that the program CCleaner was somehow messing up the upgrade installation for some reason. after uninstalling it and rebooting, the message popped up again but this time with the google chrome option available. after pressing finish and rebooting again the window for upgrading avast did not appear. I dont know what this is about, i find it kind of strange anyone else have any ideas for this? At least the problem is fixed and i will be reinstalling CCleaner now.
I am experiencing the same problem, but it goes deeper. Ever since this continuous (with each boot up) forced pop-up to Avast 7, which is impossible to get out of unless you click “finish,” the OS, especially when on-line through Opera browser, is getting ever more intensely slow to a snail’s pace, and have even noticed the appearance of a foreign “wilog.exe” spyware file that I constantly delete. Been very happy with Avast for some time, but since this issue may be indicative of what I will experience in the future with Avast, am now seriously considering deleting it and purchasing another protection system. I’ll wait and see if this clears up in the next few days.
I ran into the same problem with the popup screen after upgrading to the newest version and rebooting each time. I uninstalled Avast. Then after I rebooted the computer, I did a search for ALL remaining Avast files and folders and deleted them. Then I downloaded and reinstalled the newest version of Avast. After re-registering the product and rebooting yet again…the problem was solved.
I have 3 Windows XP computers, all set up the same…even with CCleaner. Only one of them had an issue with the popup screen, so CCleaner was not the culprit.
