Avast 7 Installation result in a crash of Windows

In the end of installing new Avast 7 the BSOD appears and computer reboots. It didn’t happened with the previous version of Avast.
I have Windows XP x64 architecture.

I’ve tried to remove everything with avast removal tool, but the problem still exists.

Any other security program that could be interfering? Firewall? Old antivirus?

There’s a windows firewall, but it worked smoothly with avast 6, so in that case if anybody has a problem, that would be avast, not the computer.
And there’s no other AV installed.

What was your last AV and how did you remove? try running removal tools from here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ for any AV you used in the past and reboot after each removal, then see if your able to run a repair of avast and reboot, if still not working then i suggest a clean install - uninstall avast normally via remove programs then reboot into safe mode and run the avast removal tool for all versions of avast you have used in the past then reboot back into normal mode and re-install avast 7.0.1426.

Are you running the latest SP for XP64 ?

I have Service Pack 1 and I’ve already tried the Safe Mode thing. Doesn’t work

You need to upgrade from Service Pack 1 to Service Pack 3 for XP. Go to Windows Update and update your machine. You may also need other updates as well. Then reboot your machine. After this, then try to update Avast.

* Note: There's no SP3 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP. If you’re running the 64-bit version of Windows XP with SP2, you have the latest service pack and will continue to be eligible for support and receive updates until April 8, 2014.

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Professional, x64 Edition is available at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17791.

Yup, it worked. Thanks guys!
