Avast 7 - Web Shield and Email Shield stopping internet access

My Avast has installed version 7.0 and now I cannot access the internet or receive email unless I turn off the web shield and email shield. Have removed Avast and re-installed a couple of times but still have the same problem. Running Windows 7

Can anyone help?
