I unticked “Scan all files” under “Scan when opening” tab in “File System Shield” Settings. Now I’m having no CPU problem. But the system is very vulnerable to viruses because Avast won’t even scan .exe files in a folder when opening that particular folder in Explorer… Is there anything I can do for this?
Thanks for the links to the solution for Avast 8. After upgrade and re-boot my PC with Win XP Pro 32-bit started blue-screening and then would blue-screen on boot-up. I had to roll back the registry to yesterday to get it to boot up and now my Avast is not working but I’ not blue-screening at least. I’m going to ghost the drive now in case anymore goes wrong when I try to re-install.
You don’t need to enable “Scan all files” to scan executable files. They are scanned by “Scan when executing” category when executed, and that provides enough protection.
As setting description says, scanning all files eats up CPU consuming and causes slowdown.
Hi All,
something wents wrong with my pc. when I installed avast premiere 8.0.1482 trial under windows 8 pro. after installation avast says reboot your pc for avast effect. when I restart my pc not sign me in. And I again installed windows 8 again. my data was lost. is the same will be with Avast Premiere 8.0.1483 or not.
This appears to be a self inflicted injury as Scan all files is unchecked by default (certainly on my settings). The text below it is the reason why it isn’t enabled by default.
I hope not… This new version of Avast! might well be the most horrible looking free antivirus.
But as for me the protection is still the most important part.
Thanks pavel and the avast! team for a job well done, although I had no problems before.
Updated from the GUI with no problems and ran a quick scan afterwards.
