I’m glad I’m not the only one with a similar sentiment. I keep looking/hoping/waiting for some alternate skin or UI for Avast8. (Are alternate skins even possible? ??? )
hello,
besides the hard Avast work for our security (6 Years 3PC happy use) , why did they change interface with W8 metro look so soon , if they worked on it , there are some reasons ?
Interface brings more users , equal or flees ?
Waiting (just a little ) for alternate skin , why not ?
Hello,
i always used avast in recent years without problems so far, except that avast webrep was constantly crashing before the 8.0 update.
Now 2 days ago i was upgrading to 8.0 avast and instantly after installation i recognized a massive slowdown in all programs and internet browser actions.
After a couple of configuration sessions in the subsystem of avast (mostly files and browser behaviour) nothing happened regarding improvement of above situation.
I don’t know what the problem with this new upgrade is but the configuration of avast might be a massive problem, the default behaviour is neglecting the purpose of
using a computer, its just not possible to wait a couple of minutes now for visual studio to load my projects.
I will move to another antivirus solution as time is precious.
So far i hope you can fix this issue as i might not be only one having this problem (reference to several entries in the forum ).
System is: Windows 7 64Bit
prior antivirus solutions: none
Harddisk: ssd
firewall: zone alarm free
I’ve been using Avast for couple of months and it’s execellent! but there’s one problem, since you’ve released a new version why not put secure delete in the virus chest with random data passes to GUTMAN method with custom number of overwrites because deleting the files from the virus chest doesen’t moves the files to recycle bin, it just deletes it which is ineffective but since Avast is an antivirus software which serves to protect than secure delete is a must. Suggest you add a secure delete instead of a normal delete
WTF Avast? cant receive or send e-mail, and cant load flash video or audio since the pushed “upgrade”. if i knew this as gogin to happen i wouldnt have upgraded…
And why do i have to verify each time i try to post?
@ ganejoe
It may be best to continue in your own new topic, as it is likely to get buried in this very large topic and we will try to help. Or try the Bahasa Indonesia, sub-forum http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=35.0 if it is easier or more convenient.
What I don’t understand is, why does using hypervisor mean that you guys have to mess with how Windows detects CPU features? Surely you guys can’t account for every single program that uses virtualisation so you’re going to have compatibility issues on a fairly regular basis?
Also are you guys looking into the aswTdi error in Event Log?
The description for Event ID 16001 from source AFD cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
I’m using Thunderbird 17.0.4 on a notebook running Windows 7.
After the update I was unable to send emails. Even after installing the certificate as mentioned in → http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB91#artTitle
When I disable Mail shield-> General settings-> scan outgoing mails (SMTP) it works (as before).
What can I do? Can I go back to an earlier version?
By the way, on my main PC using Outlook I have no problems.
regs.
Don’t know why Don’t know why but today (18/03) it all seems to work as it should. again
well you know, too much effort and no result! I can just bother the avast support team instead of me trying to solve this through this forum and save my time instead of theirs. thanks for your time though!
With just three posts, I’m not sure where this effort is best directed. If you are contemplating using the 3rd party telephone number (this isn’t avast you will be speaking to), beware if they feel your problem is unrelated to avast as they will offer you a premium support package to fix it.
There are people on the forums that are just waiting to help you and it will cost you nothing other than a little time.
Just 3 posts!!! you must be kidding me!! I’ve read the FAQ, the knowledgebase, all the posts in this forum and after ‘just’ three posts, not even an attempt to a solution has been proposed! not even a mere ’ thanks for your input, we’ll try to fix these issues in our next update’. May I remind you I paid for a product that was promising support. Now, if the support cannot deliver what they promise, I regret buying the product, and rest assure it will never happen again. I really feel I don’t have to spend hours, reading and writing posts about a problem of a product I’ve actually spent my money on. I’ve already wasted enough time on this. Very disappointed.
Is this the post you are referring to ? The problem is that it will get lost in this mega thread, for a reasonable response I would recommend a separate thread. Having said that I have just tried safe zone and can confirm your problem
Yes, because that is all we see, your posts, we don’t see what you are doing behind the scenes. That is why I suggested your own dedicated topic, so you can ask for and hopefully get direct help/input on the matter rather than it getting buried in large topics like this one.
I will also remind you that I don’t work for avast, but volunteer my time in trying to help other avast users.
Looks like they set the driver responsible to manual start, I had that driver set to a startup type of 4, it’s now set to 3 and I don’t appear to be able to change it, even with self defence disabled.
