It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).
Or you can use the in-product updater.
Sorry for troubles, thank you for your patience and we hope that you will enjoy AVAST 8 without any problems now!
Damn! Tried to update via GUI but kept getting Error on reboot. Eventually had to use Safe Mode, Uninstall Avast and am now going to attempt installing from Set-up File.
Updating through the GUI should not cause this kind of result. If I were not computer literate, I’d be screwed! Just not acceptable. :-[
See how it goes with Clean install :
Well the issue with FF 20.0.1 and webrep is still there, webrep doesn’t remind the position after I restart the FF :-[ Why this behavior? Can anyone explain me?
OK, Install (after removal 1483 in Safemode) via the downloaded Set-up File went fine (OnWin8).
Still, I can only imagine what kind of reaction this failed process would cause from someone without Computer/software experience. 8)
Updating from the avastUI in both the 8.0.1487 beta and regular 8.0.1483. For some reason the 8.0.1487 beta is stating that this is the latest update, but the 8.0.1483 installation on my win7 netbook detects it and is updating now.
Edit: BSOD on reboot on update from 8.0.1483 installation on my win7 netbook, rebooted three times, BSOD on every one. Looks like I will be doing a clean install on this system.
Generated support package including mini and full dumps, this is meant to be automatically uploaded.
Also see WebRep not staying in position but is not making IE 10 crash when I exit IE, so better now if it would stay in place. But question about this new secureline, it shows you have to activate and has a place for a license file, is this the same file as for my Avast Pro? or is this some thing you buy separate? Not sure I will ever use this but want to know in case I do. Thanks sly
Updated from previous version 8.0.1487, the only thing noticed for now is the license not retained on my AIS. Reinserted and now it’s seem ok… Thx avast team
