This is more of a sanity check question than anything else, but I was running a quick scan today on my Windows 8 computer and I noticed that before it scanned any system files, it reported scanning PID ### (it was a 3 digit number) instead of a file as the first thing being scanned. I’ve never seen this happen on my Vista machine, and if it happened on my Windows 8 computer, I hadn’t noticed it before.
Basically, what I am asking is if it is normal for Avast to scan this on a quick scan? Was this part of the latest update (8.0.1497) or has this always been there and I just didn’t notice in the past? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. No viruses or anything were reported found after the scan, I’m just curious what this was about.
Sorry, I meant the latest from the update release channel. I got that PID stood for Program ID, I was double checking since I’d never noticed the Quick Scan scan that before. I’m just assuming that is something it does in Windows 8, and I just wanted to check here to make sure I was right and not just make assumptions.
