Avast 8 Quick Scan scanning PID?

This is more of a sanity check question than anything else, but I was running a quick scan today on my Windows 8 computer and I noticed that before it scanned any system files, it reported scanning PID ### (it was a 3 digit number) instead of a file as the first thing being scanned. I’ve never seen this happen on my Vista machine, and if it happened on my Windows 8 computer, I hadn’t noticed it before.

Basically, what I am asking is if it is normal for Avast to scan this on a quick scan? Was this part of the latest update (8.0.1497) or has this always been there and I just didn’t notice in the past? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. No viruses or anything were reported found after the scan, I’m just curious what this was about.

Latest update/version is: 2014.9.0.2005
PID = Process ID

Sorry, I meant the latest from the update release channel. I got that PID stood for Program ID, I was double checking since I’d never noticed the Quick Scan scan that before. I’m just assuming that is something it does in Windows 8, and I just wanted to check here to make sure I was right and not just make assumptions.

AS far as I can tell, you are (still?) not insane :wink:

So that is normal then? Cool, that’s what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

If you want to hear that you are insane… Just let me know and I will tell you that you are HaHaHa

No, no, I think I’m good, thanks.
