Avast 8 updated...to Avast 7????

So, this is an odd problem. I’m running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit with avast! Internet Security 8, and I received a notification of a program update to avast. I forget the build number it said it was updating to. Anyway, it requested I reboot my computer, so I did. Upon booting it back up, I’ve been “updated” to avast! Internet Security 7.0.1455, and it is stating that no update is available.

I’m currently in the process of downloading avast! 8 again, but I figure this should be brought to attention as with this update, all of my Windows 8 “Metro” apps have ceased functioning as they can no longer connect to the internet, although all desktop programs can connect just fine.

Various error messages occur in the different apps, but they are all basically saying they are unable to find an internet connection.

I will report back on whether reinstalling avast! 8 fixes my Win8 app problem.

And also, has anybody else had this happen?

EDIT: So reinstalling avast! fixed everything it seems. My license file needed to be reinserted but other than that, it seems to be working fine. I just found this an odd problem…never heard of being upgraded to a much earlier version…

I had it happen when I tried to update to 1488, and I’m running Windows 7. Just had to uninstall Avast and do it again.
