i have a fresh install of win professional im using avast free 9.0, windows firewall default, and malwarebytes free but not real-time just on demand as needed. nothing else running, i see avast has 3 active shields on and i dont see much difference in switching them on or off. and prior to 9.0 i had decent bandwith but now im not sure?
system specs:
pentium(R) dual-core cpu e2210 @ 2.20GHz 2.20GHz
3gb(2.75GB usable) ram
64-bit
300gb sata HD
windows experience is 3.1

did one with and one without shields up, not really a difference so i thinks its ram/graphics issues.
speed test were 11/1 and 11/2MBps so.
when i pull up mozilla and play live on chess.com it just superlags and didnt use to with the other avasts. not sure. but i guess i could always use more ram or a new grapics card.
FYI, I would never disable any shield for any reason.
They are there for a reason. 8)
Well, the most well known browsers aren’t exactly fast.
IE, Chorme, FF, Mozilla etc.
I suggest you give Opera a try.
