I am trying all over the place to find out if any remedy came for Outlook not being able to send message after avast update to 2014.9.0.2008. Since this is a big issue, why can’t I finf out how to solve the problem. If I shut avast for 10 minutes or whatever, the message goes out right away. Thka.
avast 2014.9.0.2008 is a old version.
I strongly suggest you do a clean install of the newest version.
Many problems are solved in that one.
- Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition.

If there is anything related to Avast with a yellow triangle then uninstall it (highlight, right click) and reboot. - Install the version you downloaded.
- Reboot.
Also, here is the download links to the offline installers but in some cases the offline installer doesn’t work, whereas the online one does.
It has something to do with the wrong SFX in some installers…I’ve read several posts on issue with VISTA with the offline.

Boucbaz, very good advice from Eddy…I have had one out of four PCs exhibit this issue (Outlook 2010)…other are fine since still on Avast8…all W7 64bit. There are a lot of “older” threads on the subject but frankly those are for older builds as Eddy refers. I’ve not had a chance to go back to the problematic PC and try…been too busy. Thus, would really iike to know if the clean install to latest solves issue. Please post your results.
Regards.
I am sorry for not being more explicative and thanks you for the reply. I did exactly what was suggested, uninstall with aswclear and on, and I am sorry to say that with the lastest from avast site installed (9.0.2013), I still have the same problem…There effectively has been a thread on this around september 2013 but nobody really had an answer but going back to version 8, which I did and everything is working fine. I just disable the program update and left the virus update table ON. The PC uses XP Pro and Office 2003, avast free. My usual way of fixing is not of course backing off but at time…do we have a choice. I would really like to have an answer for this one that will solve this and gonna try the latest version in a couple of weeks. Thks guys.
P.S. Sure let you know if something ever come out of this.
I’m sorry to hear that.
I have PCs I need to update to Avast9 from Avast8 and this is the #1 issue that delays me to do this.
I have one PC on Avast 9 (w7 64-bit) as stated with Outlook 2010 that has the same problem…another friend of mine the same issue as well. I use an Outlook 365 Exchange account and also Hotmail account on my PC…my friend has Gmail & Hotmail…no emails send but will receive. Both PCs are W7 64bit SP2, IE11, W7 FW, no other security software except MalwareBytes Pro.
Like you, my friend has moved back to Avast 8 and I have not have time to work on the Avast9 problem PC.
I’m also paralyzed to try the other PCs because need to make sure this is truly not an issue first.
There are a lot of threads on the Outlook subject…think I have read them all…perhaps not…but they are old as stated…none too new until yours.
A lot of Band-Aid solutions but some that bring into question if you are exiting Avast protection by doing so.

Any other Forum members with Outlook 2003/2010/etc working ? {I’m sure there are but hopefully some posts/details can provide insights}
Try this:
-
Run Certmgr.msc, go to Trusted Root Certification Authorities and find “avast! Mail Scanner Root” certificate and export it to a file
-
Go to the mail client’s certificate store and import that certificate
Think there is a FAQ on this (export mail shield certificate) too for Avast 8 but assume works for Avast 9.

Boucbaz, let us know if this works.
Dear thekocks,
I have seen multiple cases of disabling outbound scanning solve a similar problem, especially with “GoDaddy” (secureserver.net if my memory serves me correctly) If this were my network, I would turn program updates to manual, and stay at version 8 for the mean time. All Endpoint is version 8, and it is quality and stable.
These upgrades from 8 to 9 is the #1 support issue I have with avast!. avast! needs to have an uninstaller built into the installer to help solve some of these issues.
Sincerely,

Thx for the feedback…guess I’m not alone…doing just that…
I think Avast 9 has made some huge leaps forward but this is a big sticking point for me…
At this point since lots of people are calling me for different showing up problem with avast 9 that I simply delete avast and install V8. Weird is that on one of them that was English xp but avast was install in french, downgrade to V8 and still french so I had him change in the language set up to English, Than the program upgrade back to V9 and still french. Back to the drawing board. But going back to 8 solved a lot of curious behavior. Just desactivating the program update leaving virus table update activated made it. So like I said, I’ll just wait for another version and try it on a cobaye pc.
Thks everybody.
Sorry on the late reply. Didn’t have a chance to try Eddy import Trusted Client file and sincerely am a bit reticent to try it. I found out that it is not on all XP and Outlook that the problem is acting up, may be only with some provider with SSL. This guy with the problem own a cie and about 2,000+ mails and 3 accounts are stored so I am a bit on the defensive, here…like they say ‘‘If it works, don’t fix it’’, even if a good back up is safely up to date. I’ll configure one of mine with the same set up and try as soon as time open up. Thks.
