Avast 99% CPU Usage and 3,6gb RAM Usage

Hi,

Avast! Service Process bursted my CPU usage to 99% and RAM was at 3,6gb

I restarted my computer and have had it several times after some short amount of time.

Now I have installed a fix of some new version (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=144768.0) and hope it will handle this problem.

I have installed it over my previous system without cleaning up anything - seems to work.

Hi,

I have the same problem every day.
Does the new version resolve the problem?

It should.

Ok,

was under the shower came back - AvastSvc.exe*32 SYSTEM Proccess has a cpu usage of 96% and RAM 28.080k - while i write this, i can barely move my mouse and the letters appear with delay.

I srsly need a fix for this - the update didnt solve the issue as it seems.

I would appreciate support asap since I am at writing my bachelorthesis RIGHT NOW.

When you installed the latest version was it a clean install or “over the top”

i installed it over should i start in secure mode to uninstall with the tool and reinstall freshly?

Generally if you are experiencing problems and a fix is released a clean install is best

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstalltool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[
]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

ok I am now in the process of installing.

I was prompted to enter my licence file - but he told me it wasnt functional.

Last time I had the same problem when I installed over the top. So I decided to use 30days trial version and activated the program after installation - then he recognized the file …is this a common problem?

Its somehwat annoying, since I purchased this product and so it should acknowledge me as its owner …

Using aswclear will give you a full clean start so you will need to re-insert the licence file
