Avast "Account" in FREE, What for ?

So I noticed all my Avast FREE on home PCs show not connected to account.
I only have few PCs…one for wife, me, two kids…what does Avast Account do for me ?
I notice there is setting to “notify Avast of program status”…do you need to be logged in for this ?
I DO want to make sure EMUpdate can run if any issue Avast needs to resolve but not sure how/if that correlates from the W7 scheduler of this task to “Account” ?

Can someone give me a quick explanation ?
If I’m not worried about managing multiple devices any harm not being logged into an account ?

The account allows you to keep tabs on your systems/licences and if you have mobile security allows you to send commands to the phone
