Can anyone tell me why I’m getting the attached Avast advertisement window instead of the user interface when I click on the Avast icon? There is no way to move forward from this window that I can see on into the Avast interface; I have to right-click on it in the task bar and close it from the options listed there. I can, though, get into Avast if I right-click the icon and choose “About Avast.” It’s not the user interface, but at least I do gain access to the program.
Also, when I tried to take a screen shot of the window to post here, Avast apparently “disabled” that as it will not work. But I take a screen shot of everything else I tried.
Previously avast showed ads/promos/info in the bottom 1/3 of the screen - if it expanded further I would say that was an error in the UI.
You have also cropped the UI a little much as I can see information at the bottom of the image that would appear to be from the avast forum, so I don’t know where the avastUI ends and other unrelated information starts.
I have attached an image of my UI on my other system as this one has the 2016 beta build installed.
I believe this might be a better picture. This is something that just started today. Before today, I was getting the same UI that you posted a pic of. It’s one large window with just the advertisement, and then the desktop is behind it.
That is certainly strange as there are no remnants of the UI on display at all, just this ad. Now in the pas we have seen popup-ads displayed at the bottom right of the screen (not in the UI), these normally happened when avast was doing the virus definitions auto update.
Have you rebooted since this happened ?
If so and it is still the same I would try the avast Repair.
